Fantastic Job Grade 6! I very much enjoyed today’s class, and everyone did a magnificent job. I especially liked the great costumes people created to help them accurately present the person/god they chose.

Make sure to write a full paragraph describing your feelings in response to the following questions/statement. Make sure to spell check, grammar check, read out loud, and format with paragraph spacing before you click publish.

What did you enjoy and/or find interesting about the presentations you heard in class?
What would you change to improve your speech/presentation if you were to do the assignment again?
Explain with details and specific information what you learned from your classmates’ speeches.

Famous Egyptians Speech Reminder

You will be presenting your Famous Egyptians Speech next period. You must be in costume to help accurately present the person/god you chose, and you must turn in all of your work. That means you have at least two full pages of notes, from at least two different sources, your finished web, and your printed citations.

Date you will be presenting your speech:

Block B, C and D: Thursday, March 6th
Block H: Friday, March 7th

REMINDER: You must turn in all of your work on the presentation day! You should staple the following information in order with the rubric on top.

• Rubric/web
• Typed Draft
• Research Records
• Citations

NOTE: The assignment, rubric, and brainstorming web are all on my resource page.

HELPFUL TIPS:

Introduction- This should be catchy, interesting, and a reflection of you as a speaker! You want to arouse your audiences curiosity.

• Hook- interesting or emotional comment used to catch reader’s attention
• General Comments- interesting background information (define key terms)
• Thesis Statement- specific topic of the essay/explains ideas of the body paragraphs

Conclusion- The reader should see the importance of your essay, and finish thinking about what you have said.

• Ideas of thesis statement- use different words than those in the introduction
• Comments- may include a summary of the main ideas, an evaluation of other ideas, connections to audience, and/or the speaker’s opinion,
• Final statement- a final thought that ties up the topic

Now that we have finished our Ancient Egyptian historical fiction stories let’s see what people wrote. Read at least one person’s story from each one of the 6th grade blocks and post a comment on the person’s blog. Please write specific comments about why you liked the story. Remember, all comments must be positive. It is time to let people know that you enjoyed reading their creations!

Please monitor your blog and accept any comments that your classmates post on your blog.

Egyptian Gods

Do image searches to find pictures of the Egyptian Gods. Make a post with the name of the god, a simple caption explaining what this god represents, a picture of the god, and lastly the URL of the site you found the picture.
